Mediation Continuing Education Opportunities

Happy Almost New Year!  I hope you have been able to enjoy the holiday season even though it is very different than in years past.  While I have missed my family and friends, the quieter moments have given me time to focus on my goals and visions for a better 2021.  As such, I would like to share my group’s course offerings for the first quarter of the year.

Please share this email with anyone you think might be interested in continuing education.  All mediation courses are either IMA and IBA approved or have approval pending.

To sign up for a course, simply email me at carol@carolbarkes.com to be added to the roster and then either mail payment to my address below or Venmo payment to carol-barkes.  If you have any questions about course specifics, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Also, if you see a course you are interested in for your group of 10 or more but the times and dates aren’t quite right, tap on me and I will work with you to create a course around your schedule.

Rethink Listening

    February 17 (8:30 – 12:30 p.m.) – $99

While listening is the key to effective communication, most of us are really not great at fully listening.  We listen waiting to speak again, let our minds

wander away from the conversation and we fail to hear the messages being delivered.  Learn how to ask the “next best question”, use your tone to help

others feel freer to speak and understand how to hear what is being said as well as what isn’t.

Managing Difficult Conversations

Rethink Listening

    March 3 (1 – 5 p.m.) – Register through the College of Southern Idaho

While listening is the key to effective communication, most of us are really not great at fully listening.  We listen waiting to speak again, let our minds

wander away from the conversation and we fail to hear the messages being delivered.  Learn how to ask the “next best question”, use your tone to help

others feel freer to speak and understand how to hear what is being said as well as what isn’t.

Rise

   March 9 (9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) – Register through the College of Southern Idaho

Motivating teams to embrace change, achieve more and stretch beyond their current capacity is the focus of peak performance specialists.  In a world

where information is readily shared and top technology and processes are common knowledge, helping our teams do more by understanding how to better

utilize their brainpower can be a game-changer for an organization’s success.  Come spend the morning learning some of the latest brain research that

can enable your team to accomplish more, be more innovative and be happier while doing so.

Neuroscience of Conflict During Court Processes
(15 hours)

    February 10 & 17 (8:30 – 5:00) – $350

Ever wondered what is happening “under the hood” when we are experiencing conflict?  During these two days, participants will learn how the brain processes      conflict, stress and trauma.  This information will then be applied to processes to help reduce the toxic effects of these processes and make it easier for all

parties to communicate and move through processes with less stress, more understanding and better results.  At least 30 percent of this course is dedicated to      practicing the skills taught.  This is a great course for mediators, attorneys, judges, clerks and anyone who deals with people during challenging times.

Child Custody Mediation (20 hours)

    March 29 – April 1 (8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) – $400
